The mission of the Center for Childhood Nutrition Research (CCNR) is to improve the health of children through optimized nutrition, increased physical activity, and innovative, evidenced-based educational programs. This mission will be accomplished by executing a multidisciplinary program that integrates nutrition education, free play, and research to better understand how the culture of health can be improved and take steps at the state and national level to improve the health of children.
Programs will be conducted in public and private schools across New Jersey and will include focuses on nutrition and health, active lifestyles, diet and choices, cooking, and integrated research on healthy growth. Additionally, engagement with key partners in NJ, nationally and internationally will advance the goals of the CCNR. Partners include the state departments of health and senior services and education, the RWJF, the YMCA, American Association of Pediatrics, and partners in Brazil and Mexico.
