About Us

Gut microbiota is involved in numerous processes essential to human health through interaction with food, human organs, tissues, and cells far beyond the gut (e.g., immune and neural systems, liver, adipose tissue, brain, etc.). The Center for Digestive Health (CDH) is primarily a virtual network of Rutgers faculty and investigators conducting research on various aspects of gastro-intestinal health. Our vision can be described as "Digestive health: a foundation of the nation's well-being."

The Center's goal is to provide the Rutgers research community with a platform to further excel existing collaborations and promote new partnerships, making these interdisciplinary teams highly competitive in raising funds for their research and strengthening the university's and institute's position in the field of human health.
